Growth, Social Media and Staying Relevant with award winning lash tech, brand owner and world renowned trainer Mr Lash.

Corey, also known as Mr Lash first stepped into the Lash world just 7 years ago “I’m not going to lie to you” he said, “I couldn’t stand lashes to begin with” encouraging other lash techs in the early stages of their career to trust the process and be patient with it. From this Corey, has turned his brand worldwide, gained a range of awards and has performed lash treatments on a range of celebrities from Geordie Shores Marnie to Ella Wise from The Only Way is Essex.

With trends in the lash industry constantly evolving, we asked Corey how he keeps up with the latest styles. He emphasised the importance of staying informed: “Clients often follow what they see online, so I try to reflect those trends in the content I post to attract them.” However, he also acknowledges the value of variety, “There are still clients who love the thick volume look—and that’s perfectly fine too.” he added. Trends will come and go in any industry but as Corey mentioned as a lash tech is it important to be able to offer a range of styles to suit all your clientele whether it be classics, volume or mega volume.

Corey agrees that ‘keeping up appearances is hard, there are waves of a flavour of the time” especially in the beauty industry where trends come and go. To keep up with these trends but Mr Lash came through with some sound advice for anyone who is just starting out or feeling slumped with creating content – “try to keep up with good clean quality content – make time for content days on models to showcase your work, just do the best you can but if you do want to try grow your followers and online presence then consistent good content is the way forward”. Although he does admit “as I’ve got older, I don’t care so much on the number of likes etc”, your social media is often not the heart and sole of your business, word of mouth is extremely powerful, socials won’t necessarily attract more clients. If you are booked and busy your social media will come hand in hand with this.

Not only are trends evolving but every month there are new products on the lash market. From lash shampoos to bonders, it can be overwhelming keeping up with the freshest products. “In most cases it’s best to stick to what you know, I’m very minimalist when it comes to lash the lash products” agreeing that you don’t always need to invest in the newest releases. As Mr Lash runs a well-established online store, we asked him how he manages new products for his customers “if there’s a product out there that I personally believe is a fad, I won’t sell it either and there’s lots of them! Maybe I’m old fashioned” he laughed “I’m not sure but I like what I like and just try to keep things simple”. If your products work for you, your retention remains and the results are keeping both yourself and clients happy, don’t feel like you must try every new product. The future of the Mr Lash store is “to push our product line more and invest in higher stock quantities, advertising etc. There’s so much that goes into it, I’m still learning along the way and trying to figure it all out!”. We are watching that space like a hawk as the passion being pushed into the brand to create products you can trust is evident.

Products and maintaining clientele go hand in hand and as a lash tech and a store owner himself, Corey knows the importance of building and retaining both a clients and customers – “Building a relationship with your clients is essential to keeping them but also I think more importantly doing a good job on their lashes is more important, it doesn’t matter how nice you are and friendly to your clients- if their lashes aren’t lasting they won’t continue coming. Make sure you’re confident in your work and understand the preparation of the lashes prior to application and the importance of not overdoing the natural lashes with heavy thick fans” He emphasised it’s important to remember “even if they want this it’s your responsibility to advise accordingly what is best for them with regards to their eye shape and the health of their natural lashes. If you don’t think what they are asking for is appropriate, explain to them why perhaps it’s not suitable and they will appreciate this more”. Corey also reminded us of the importance of getting know your client and what they are looking to achieve is a key base for setting up a great relationship “going through a consultation with a new client is a great way of showing your professional experience and will give your client confidence that they’ve come to the right person as not enough lash techs do this”.

Having built a loyal client base over the years, building an online store, training students and growing his social media presence Mr Lash has become a globally recognised brand and tech trusted by lash artists. Corey told us that his biggest achievement was “being asked to go to America to teach a sold out masterclass, it was very stressful but so glad I did it!” a true ode to his success and influence on lash techs across the world.

Finally, we asked Mr Lash if he had any advice for our readers, he finished with “My biggest bit of advice would be to post the content, show up, show your face online – don’t worry about what others think, as long as you’re doing your best that’s all that matters!”

With his approach to education and building a brand which offers premium lash supplies, Mr Lash is a true credit to the industry.
