From Setbacks to Success – Meet The Woman Empowering Others in the Beauty Industry

If there’s anyone who epitomises the message of “if at first you don’t succeed, dust yourself off and try again,” it’s Carrie Kershaw Landy. A leading figure in the beauty industry, Carrie is a 3x award-winning self-development coach and the founder of a highly successful SPMU brow training business. With a focus on women’s empowerment and a fierce determination to help others achieve success, Carrie is not just a beauty expert – she’s an inspiration to anyone pursuing their dreams, especially when facing adversary.

Carrie’s journey to becoming one of the most admired women in business was not linear but rather driven by a strong desire to be independent and create something of her own. “Like most jobs I had, it was for convenience and to pay the bills. I lived for the weekend and dreaded the Sunday Scaries,” Carrie recalls. “I knew deep down I was supposed to do more, I just didn’t know what that was.” Her early attempts at entrepreneurship included ventures like selling makeup and creating glitter glasses, which ultimately didn’t last. However, the fire for creating something of her own never extinguished.

Carrie found her true calling in the Permanent Makeup (PMU) industry, specifically microblading. “I wanted to do aesthetics, and microblading was my access point. But I fell in love with PMU and never looked back,” she explains. This pivot in her career set her on a path that would change everything.

Two pivotal moments in Carrie’s career shaped the future of her business. “Winning ‘International Brow Artist of the Year’ at the Brow Awards and opening our current location were both game changers for me,” she shares. “The award gave the business a spotlight and led to incredible opportunities. Moving into our current location was mentally challenging, but also incredibly rewarding. I come from very little and was told I wouldn’t achieve anything. Having my own dream location, with no help or loans, was a dream realised.”

Carrie’s passion for empowering women is at the core of her business. “My real purpose is women empowerment,” she says. “Whether it’s helping women step into confidence through treatments, building financial independence through their own businesses, or scaling their businesses to the next level, my mission is to show them that they can do anything – no matter their background or circumstances.” She draws inspiration from Michelle Obama’s words: “Women can do whatever they want. There is no limit to what we as women can achieve.”

My real purpose is women empowerment.

Carrie incorporates this philosophy into both her services and mentoring. “PMU was a turning point in my life. It gave me the confidence to live life on my terms. In my training and coaching, I don’t just focus on the technical skills, but also on mindset and self-belief,” she explains. “I want my clients to know exactly what they are capable of.”

As a mindset coach and self-development advocate, Carrie believes that success is defined by freedom. “Success means the freedom of choice – the ability to create a life that sparks joy and fulfillment,” she shares. “Mindset and manifestation are key parts of my brand. I believe mindset can pave your way to success or failure.”

Carrie’s own journey wasn’t without challenges. “One powerful moment that helped me push forward was my first client after PMU training. I completely screwed up – one eyebrow, not two! I wanted to quit right then and there,” she admits. “But I had an amazing support system, especially my partner Kane, who reminded me why I started this journey. That moment built resilience in me, and I now know that setbacks are just part of the story.”

As someone who has risen above adversity, Carrie’s advice to others is simple: “You are going to fail, make mistakes, and shed a few tears. This is normal and part of your story. Don’t give your mistakes more energy than they deserve. Learn the lessons, embrace your failures, and trust that you are on the right path.”

In addition to her success in PMU and coaching, Carrie’s personal achievement of purchasing her first home was a moment she never envisioned when she was younger. “Being able to afford our first home on our own was an amazing moment for me. It’s something I never pictured for myself, but I’m so proud to have achieved it.”

For those starting their own businesses, Carrie’s advice is clear: “Be unique, don’t follow the crowd, and focus on quality. Social media should be a non-negotiable part of your business, not an afterthought.”

Carrie Kershaw Landy’s story is a testament to perseverance, resilience, and empowerment. Through her expertise, coaching, and personal journey, she continues to inspire and empower women to realise their full potential and achieve the success they deserve – and if Carrie can change her life, so can you!
