We caught up with Scottish session stylist, Justin Mackland, who dives into the top trends you’ll be seeing everywhere this spring and summer.
What are the looks we should expect to see in spring summer?
This year there are three key hair trends we are kicking the year off with – The glamour blowout, jane birkin bangs and the French girl bob. Each are completely different vibes but also complement each-other very well when combined.
What colours / tones will be making our eyes pop?
Teddy bear brunette is my number 1 trend for spring summer 25. It’s a very dimensional brunette with slivers of beige or golden highlights being distributed throughout the colour breaking it up. Sunflower blonde was huge last year, and this is a very soft and beautiful transition from that. Women are opting for much lower maintenance colours these days which this is perfect for. It ties in nicely with the Pantone colour of the year Mocha also.
Where are the styles gaining inspiration from?
We live in a celeb cultured world where we are often seeing these looks first on the red carpet, however I do find London, Paris, New York and Milan fashion weeks tend to lead the way with hinting at what direction we are heading in. Trends are often predicted with world events such as movie premiers that are set to be huge (for example wicked PT 2 and the Billy Joel biopic “Piano man”)
