The word community is used across most brands these days and in the beauty industry especially, it’s become something truly special. From events and networking nights to beauty meet ups happening around the world, the sense of connection has never been stronger. In an industry where many now work alone, finding your community can be a powerful force.
For brands, communities help them connect with the people who truly believe in their products. For professionals, they create a space to find common ground to talk brows, lashes, nails, or even share stories about those nightmare clients we all get from time to time!
With the growth of social media, finding your online network should be easier than ever but of course it also comes with challenges. To build your online community, start by finding those you relate to and look up to most. Comment on their work, engage genuinely, and don’t be afraid to reach out for advice. In the brow world especially, gatekeeping is becoming a thing of the past, and people are more open than ever to sharing tips, products, and support.

Think of building your community like building your team you get back what you put out. If you want to network, connect with those focusing on growing their brands. If you’re after a more chatty, social space, join in the comments and find the girls and guys who make you feel supported. The key is to build connections, not competition.
Collaborating with others in the industry doesn’t just bring friendship, it opens doors to opportunities like masterclasses, styled shoots, and workshops. A great example of this is The Brow Camp by @thepolishedloungex and @_byjamilla — a perfect showcase of collaboration, learning, and community spirit. By joining forces, you learn from others, gain confidence, and grow stronger in your craft. We chatted to Jo and Jamilla to get their opinion on how important it is to find a community “Community is everything, and it all starts with friendship. Finding people who get you and share your passion just makes the whole journey so much more fun. Even though we don’t live particularly close to each other, we still make it work — proof that genuine connections go beyond distance. When you connect with people who truly support you, everything else just flows. The friendships you build naturally turn into amazing collabs, shoots, and workshops, and it never feels like work when you’re doing it with your besties”

Seeing others as companions rather than competitors helps reduce comparison something that can easily creep in on social media. Growth happens when you work together with others, not against them.
Whether you’re in brows, lashes, or nails, your community should reflect the kind of energy you want to create supportive, positive, and empowering. Taking the first step might feel daunting, but pushing yourself out of your comfort zone and attending events can lead to incredible opportunities. Having a network you can rely on brings friendship, learning, and the kind of support that can help you level up your business, your work, and yourself.
